In January 2007, the Aldrich AllStarss raised over $1,600 in the Jr. United Nations sponsored "Penny Challenge".

This is how it worked:
Each classroom had two containers, one for pennies and one for any silver coins. Students placed the coins they brought in the appropriate jar and the containers were taken to the office each morning where Jr. United Nations members helped students to put them in the correct jars.

Pennies went into each grade level's jar, and students selected another grade level's jar to put the silver coins in. Pennies added points; silver coins subtracted points. Our Kindergarten grade level ended up with the most positive points!

Money raised was donated to the Make A Wish Foundation.
