The WordMaster Challenge is a national language arts competition based on word comprehension and logical abilities. The Challenge is for students in grades 3-5.The contest’s goal is to foster growth in vocabulary and verbal reasoning skills. Classroom participation is at the discretion of the classroom teacher. The Challenge consists of three “meets” per year held in December, February, and April. WordMasters issues vocabulary lists to participating schools several weeks before each meet. Students study the vocabulary in the classroom and independently in preparation for associated analogies quiz, or meet.

The National Geography Bee, for fourth and fifth grade students, is designed to spark interest and increase public awareness in geography. The Preliminary Competition is held in individual fourth and fifth grade classrooms. This consists of seven Preliminary Rounds of 30 questions each. The Preliminary Competition determines which student from each classroom advances to the Final Competition of the school Bee. The Final Competition consists of a Final Round and a Championship Round.

On Thursday, January 11th the following students competed in the Final Competition:
