Text Box: From Mrs. Nelson — Welcome to the 2007-2008 school year! A special hello to all of our new Cougars— the kindergartners and students brand new to Cottonwood. We are also joined this year by Mrs. Schade, Mrs. Scherbring’s long-term substitute, Mrs. Freshman and Mrs. Pane-Ridgway, new first grade teachers; Mrs. Tessin, a new second grade teacher; Mrs. Barry, a new third grade teacher; Miss Fisher and Mr. Beninato, new fifth grade teachers; Mrs. Holmes, our new resource teacher and Mrs. Martinez (from Millard North), as our strings teacher. We also welcome Mrs. Silva, Mrs. Haase and Mrs. Gunn, new para-professionals. These individuals come to us with a variety of experiences and talents. You will be reading more about them in future Cougar Couriers.
This special edition of the newsletter is designed to give you an overview of how Cottonwood operates. Our first concern is always the safety of our children, so please review the parking lot drop-off/pick-up procedures. We are having an awful problem with the traffic flow. Please remember to park your car in the lot or in the blacktop area if you are going to be getting out. When you are taking your child to the car, use the crosswalk!
We also want you to be aware of upcoming activities and opportunities, and so we invite you to have a look at the calendar and to peruse the list of clubs. You will be receiving the District Elementary Handbook and the
curriculum specific to your child’s grade level on Curriculum Night.
As always, I look forward to working with you and your children and invite you to make an appointment to come visit your child’s class.

Morning Matters!

· Students are not

supervised outside in the morning until 8:25.

· The first bell in the morning rings at 8:35, and the children are welcomed into the building.

· Students are tardy after the 8:45 bell rings, and they should come to the office to sign in.

· If a student is going to arrive after 9:00, please call in to give his/her lunch preference so that the cooks can prepare enough food!

If you wish to wait with your child, please say goodbye in the lobby or outside.
