Kaila’s Essay
Text Box: From Mrs. Nelson— Our students continue to make us proud with demonstrations of their thoughts and feelings. Fifth grader Kaila Hubbs and her parents were invited to a Sertoma dinner this week so that Kaila could read her essay “What Freedom Means to Me.” She did a beautiful job, and 5th grade teacher Miss Fisher, who also attended, said it was a “wonderful evening.” The text of the essay appears inside this newsletter.
We had another group of Cougar Paws recognized this Friday: Kaedyn Odermann and Taylor Ziepke for Responsibility; Robbie Englerth for Responsibility, Caring, and Citizenship; Anastasia Boone for Respect and Fairness; Lexy Ehle and Caroline Galusha for Caring and Citizenship; Madisyn Hynek for Respect; James Patton for Responsibility, Respect, Caring and Citizenship; Tristan Thoms for Caring and Citizenship. After I described their deeds to the group, each received a Cougar Paw certificate and a special pencil! It was an honor to visit with them.
This year’s third and fourth grade TerraNova assessment results are presented inside this newsletter. Take a look— another job well done!
Did you see the lead article a couple of weeks ago in the Omaha World Herald’s Healthwise supplement? It was called (ahem) “Brody the Super Dog.” While he isn’t one of our students, exactly, we are just beaming to see our Domesti-PUPS therapy dog recognized so positively.
Clearly there is a lot going on this winter at Cottonwood. Every day brings a new achievement!
