From Mrs. Nelson Spring has officially sprung, which means warm, sunny days— and cold, rainy days.  In Nebraska it can mean both kinds of weather on the same day, so please remember to send a jacket with your child every day.  As much as we want to push into summer, it isn’t here yet!

Another sign of spring is a change in fashions.  Students may wear       sandals to school, but they must have tennis shoes (or shoes with a heel strap) for recess and gym.  We also ask that clothing be modest— no short-shorts or      spaghetti straps will be allowed.  Even though it’s warm outside, the classroom temperatures can vary, so along with being immodest, that clothing can be uncomfortable!

If clothing is disruptive to the educational process or unsafe (flip flops at gym or recess), we may call and ask that you bring something more appropriate for your child to wear.  As a reminder, we specifically do not allow halter tops, bare midriffs or language on clothing that is either inappropriate or promotes/ advertises drugs or alcohol.  I appreciate your understanding on this issue.

Our third, fourth and fifth graders did a great job this week on their reading and math ELO assessments.  Next week our first graders will step up to the plate to take their language arts/reading assessment.

Finally, spring means that we get to see the tulips come upSlowly but surely they are emerging, and soon the magnolia bushes will burst forthI can’t wait to be surprised by the rest of our plants as they come back.  Happy spring!
