From Mrs. Nelson  —  This week’s newsletter brings lots of information about the Cottonwood community.  Each year our PTA awards two scholarships to past students of our school.  We are pleased to congratulate Jenna Romano and Cayle Jones, both seniors at Millard North High School.  Each will receive a $600 scholarship to help with college costs.  They, along with their parents, are invited to be our guests at the Millard Foundation Hall of Fame Banquet on May 9th at the Qwest Center. 

             Some of our staff members will be receiving recognition for longevity with Millard Public Schools.  Cindy Utoft, a food service worker, has been with MPS for 10 years.  Bonnie Larson, the cafeteria manager, has worked for Millard for 20 years, as has first grade teacher Anne Pane-Ridgway.  Susie Wooster, a Millard Education Plan Facilitator who helps us with curriculum and so many other important facets of teaching, has been with the district for 25 years!  We are so proud to have these loyal employees here with us. 

             Speaking of Cottonwood teachers, we have another change to announce.  Miss Fisher in fifth grade will be moving to Black Elk Elementary next fall.  Mrs. Peterson will remain in fifth grade, and we are very pleased to announce that Mrs. Deb Marshall will be joining the Cottonwood fourth grade team.  Mrs.  Marshall left full-time teaching in 1991 to stay home and raise her children.  She has been a substitute teacher for us here for almost nine years!  It will be so nice to have her here all the time.  The children already know and love her.  Mrs.       Marshall is currently filling in for Mrs. Peterson in fifth, so be sure to welcome her when you see her.                                                                  (continued inside…)
