From Mrs. Nelson  —  Our last PTA gathering is Volunteer Appreciation Night at Mama’s Pizza on May 12th from 5:30-7:30.  We owe so much to the dozens of moms, dads, aunts, uncles, grandmas… you get the idea.  Some come in and stuff Friday Folders.  Others teach Junior Achievement lessons, while some choose to read with kids.  We have Amazing Artist helpers, field trip chaperones and Family Fun Night booth operators.  There are so many ways to help the      students and teachers here, and our community continues to find new ones.  We    invite all volunteers to join us at Mama’s for food and fun on the 12th. 

             The Board of Education set the last day of school for Friday, May 30th.  This will be a half school day, with the children being dismissed at 12:00.  When we have the schedule for the Children’s Hospital Walk and the Awards Assembly, we will publish it here.  By way of explanation to the new Cougars, the entire school walks through the park on the last day of school in support of Children’s Hospital.  For a week or so before that, we collect change so that we can present a representative with a check just before the walk.

             Another Cottonwood tradition is 4th and 5th grade Track and Field Day, which is scheduled for May 28.  The kids will walk up to MNHS with their teachers in the morning and participate in activities all day.

Thanks to all who sent in letters about their child’s placement for next year.  We are not able to accept any more requests, as the process is beginning.  As always, class membership will be posted on the front windows of the school on the 7th or 8th of August.
