Team Text Box: From Mrs. Nelson — Our NCA AdvancED visitation last Wednesday was a delight! The team arrived at 8:00, and we were off and running. The first group to be interviewed was staff. After about 20 minutes, we took a break to welcome the children into the school. The team was very impressed with our morning procedure. For those who haven’t seen it, staff are assigned various stations throughout the school, and as the kids enter by grade level, we greet them— by name— as many times as possible. Our goal is to have every child personally greeted at least once every morning. This method also lets us catch any students who might be having a tough morning so that we can help them turn it around. After announcements the staff interview continued. Then we took a building tour and met with the student group. My sincere thanks to Emily Costello, Kaitlyn Forsythe, Julia Hansen, Elizabeth Krichau, James Patton, Connor Reikofski, Alex Stefan, and Jackie Thomsen. They were phenomenal. The team thought the meeting would last no more than 30 minutes, and I had to stop the group after 45! They were remembering and telling stories from kindergarten on. They recalled assemblies, field trips, clubs and class projects. They were so excited that the ladies on the team started to chuckle. What a testament to our school and your children! The last group to be interviewed consisted of parents. Thanks SO much to Mrs. Arnett, Mrs. Kim, Mrs. King, Mrs. Orcutt, Mrs. Paustian, and Mr. Patton. The group talked about our great teachers and willingness to help kids succeed in partnership with them. They addressed issues that need work, too. The District exit report was Thursday afternoon. Of course they are recommending a continuation of our accreditation. I look forward to seeing the complete report.
