Description: This pyschology course enables us to promote an awareness of and respect for the pychological diversity of human beings with the reference to their biological, social, and cultural influences. Students will develop an appreciation of the broad scope of pyschology, as well as an understanding of the different theoretical approaches utilized in understanding behavior. They will be able to describe, compare, and evaluate the key ideas of all four of pyschology's major perspectivesm as well as the historical and cultural contexts in which each developed. Students will be introduced to scientific methodology used in psychological inquiry, demonstrate their ability to design, conduct, and report a simple experiment, as well as review ethical practices and responsibilities essential to such inquiry. Ultimately, they will explore the practical applications of psychology and demonstrate the relevance of psychology to daily life, from the individual level to the global level representing an international perspective.

Prerequisites: Junior or Senior standing.
