Social Studies

We would like to welcome visitors to the Millard North High School's Social Studies Home Page! As a department we are proud to offer twenty interesting, rigorous, and diverse programs within the Social Studies area. If you have any questions about any of our course offerings, please feel free to contact us. Our department has eighteen, experienced, dedicated, and knowledgeable faculty members. As a group, we have earned twelve Master's degrees and we have offered a combined total of 240 years of service to the students of the Millard Public Schools. We invite you to explore our department's offerings and meet our excellent staff!

For graduation requirement purposes, juniors and seniors must choose at least one course from Human Resources and one from either American Studies or World Perspectives. All Social Studies course offerings are open to any student with the appropriate grade level, interest, and determination to participate in a unique, rigorous academic course offering.

 

Graduation Requirements

*All 9th graders must take American History Since 1914

*All 10th graders must take World Geography (exception may be made for I.B. students taking 20th Century Problems).

*Sophomores who possess the intellectual talents, curiosity, and drive necessary to compete with juniors and seniors in academically challenging classes may register for Ethnic Studies and IBS.

*Junior and Senior standing in required for all AP Social Studies classes. Students not meeting these prerequisites will be removed from the class.

*Students wishing to take AP Psychology must first take the Psychology course.

*Civics and Consumerism is a graduation requirement for all seniors.
