Student Support Groups Student Support Groups are available through the Counseling Center if there is sufficient student interest. Students should see their Counselor for details about the groups and/or to indicate interest. Groups meet on a "rotating period" basis during the regular school day. ANGER MANAGEMENT GROUP: A group that helps students understand the physiological and psychological aspects of anger. Strategies are taught so that the student can regain control and approach stressful situations in a more effective and appropriate way. CHOICES: A group for girls who are making or have had to make decisions regarding pregnancy. COA - (Children of Alcoholics) - A group for individuals who live with parents/siblings who are substance abusers. The focus is sharing experiences and development skills to copy with the stresses of everyday life. GRIEF SUPPORT - A group for student adjusting to the death of significant persons in their lives. Focus is on self-care, dealing with feelings, coping with changes, stress management, and surviving loss. LIFE GUIDES: A voluntary group available to any age student who has had involvement with drugs/alcohol. The intent of the group is to explore lifestyle decisions regarding any issued such as: goal setting, communication, anger management, decision-making, and alcohol and other drug use. SURVIVAL: A support group for student with an eating disorder. FAMILY CHANGE: A group for students experiencing difficulty with a current or post divorce in their family. STEP/BLENDED FAMILIES: A group for students having a difficult time adjusting to their "new" family. Not responsible for links beyond this page. ![]() |
