Requirements:

The Vocational Industrial Clubs of America is a national organization dedicated to furthering the education of over 50 technical trades and careers. This club is designed to work with students who have interest in vocational trades. This club will help them to develop team efforts and career goals as well as their social and leadership skills.

Activities:

SKILLS USA

For many years, VICA has sponsored a state, national , and world championship event to showcase the best secondary students in each of over 70 areas. From masonry and architectural drafting to customer service and nursing, Millard North's chapter has been well represented with several members competing at the state level, and some continuing on to the national competition for carpentry, cabinet making, and HVACR.

Leadership skills

Each fall, selected members attend a regional conference on leadership skills, together with Mr. Dave Patten, our faculty advisor.

Fund Raisers

We sponsor several fund raisers each year to defray the costs of our activities. Some events are:

  • Spring Lawn Mower Tune Up
The club offers a very popular service each spring for tuning up lawn mowers for the service. For $10, the team sharpens blades and changes the oil in a lawn mower. This 2 day event is very popular with the community.
  • OPPD Power Drive Concessions

Our club runs a concession stand at the OPPD races, providing hot dogs, sloppy joes, drinks, and snacks.
