WINNING BOOKS

The
Newbery medal is awarded annually by the Association for Library
Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association,
to the author of the most distinguished
contribution to American literature for children.

The
Caldecott medal is awarded annually by theAssociation for Library
Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association,
to the artist of the most distinguished
American picture book for children.

The
Coretta Scott King Award is presented annually by the Coretta Scott
King Task Force of the American Library Association's Social
Responsibilities Round Table.Recipients
are authors and illustrators of African descent whose distinguished
books promote an understanding and appreciation of the "American
Dream. "

The Michael L. Printz Award is an award for a book showing literary excellence in young adult literature. It is named after a school librarian from Topeka, Kansas who was a long-time active member of the Young Adult Library Services Association.
