MRS. KOHLER GUIDANCE
Hello! My name is Beth Kohler
and I'm the counselor here at Morton Elementary! I'm here to help
the children and their families in any way I can!
I have several responsibilities
at Morton. Here are some of my responsibilities:
- Classroom guidance
lessons
- Facilitating small groups
on topics such as friendship, divorce, anger management, study
skills, etc.
- Working with students
individually
- M.A.D. Club
Sponsor-Morton Against Drugs is our drug-free club for 3rd grade
students
- Conflict Manager
Sponsor-We train 4th and 5th grade students, that have been chosen by
their peers and teachers, to be conflict managers. They help students
solve problems that occur during recess. They've been trained to
utilize a very helpful problem solving process. This program has been
very beneficial in many ways! Thank you, conflict managers for all
your help!
I send home "Counselor's
Corner" (my newsletter) to help keep parents informed of the
activities I do with students in their classrooms. If you ever have
any questions or concerns, please feel free to call me at 691-1213.
Did you know that "stressed"
spelled backwards spells "desserts?" I found that interesting! This is
a time of year that can be stressful for many people! Here are some
tips that might be helpful to reduce some of your
stress:
- 1. Plan ahead!
- 2. Be prepared to
wait!
- 3. Pollyanna-Power! For every
one thing that goes wrong, there are probably 10 or 50 or 100
blessings! Count them!
- 4. Be flexible!
- 5. Simplify, simplify, and
simplify!
